English, Written English, Western Culture, American literature,
Linguistics, Teaching Methodology , English for special purposes
such as Business English, Secretary English, English Idioms and
etc. Some universities may have high requirements like Accounting,
Auditing, Marketing, Finance and Economics.
Q: Do I need a Bachelor's
or Master's degree? Can I still teach if I don't have a degree?
A: Bachelor degree is a must if you are applying
for an Alien Registration Certificate. This certificate will make
your life a lot simpler and there are added benefits to having
this type of visa. If you have a TESOL, TEFL, CELTA or RSA, these
are recognized certificates that will benefit your employment
chances greatly. Experienced teachers are always in demand. However,
if you have none of the above qualifications, you may still teach
in China. Please contact us for more information.
Q: Is there a specific
time when most jobs start?
A: Generally speaking, teaching EFL is a year-round
business with no particular calendar or holidays. Even if schools
employ teachers at the start of their "academic year",
teachers leave or additional clients arrive unexpectedly so job
opportunities arise during the course of the year. It is true,
however, that in China there is a particular demand for teachers
to start in September or October.
Q: What age students will
I be teaching?
A: The age of the students really depends on
your job opportunities. You will be teaching very young children
if you accept a job from kindergarten and up to adult age if you
enter a language school. We will find out what is to be expected
and possible age groups which you will be teaching before signing
of the contract.
Q: What kind of position
do you recommend?
A: Generally, there are three categories of students
in China:
1) kindergarten
2) students from primary to high school
3) college students and/or adults (self improvement course or
business related English course).
We initiate to contact with them on your behalf if you select
one of schools. Given enough time, we sometimes can even create
a position for you. The earlier you apply, the better the chance.
Q: Are there any age limit?
A: This is a question that keeps on popping up.
The answer to this question is "No". There are no age
limitations in teaching English. That being said, if you want
to work regularly in China, a degree or relevant diploma is a
must. So, if you are under 17 and you are not a child prodigy
for finishing your university degree at the age of 14,you are
out of luck. Generally speaking, age 20 to 60 are all acceptable.
For the upper spectrum of the scale, Generally, the schools respect
mature and /or energetic teachers. As long as you are healthy
and love to teach, there is no reason to think you are not eligible.
Q: Could you tell me about
the teaching condition and compensation in China?
A: As matter of fact, the teaching condition
and compensation in China vary from school to school. Generally
speaking, you will get the followings benefits:Receive a wage
of 2,500--6000 RMB per month (According to The Teachers' qualifications,
teaching experience or certificates) .This is certainly enough
to live on and travel around China with.>Receive 100% reimbursement

completing the One year Teach Program.>Receive an 1100 RMB
per semester travel allowance.>Receive free conversational
Chinese language lessons.>Be taken on monthly sight-seeing
day trips to local points of interest within 100Km.>Be met
at the Chinese airport when you arrive.
Q: Can my partner go with
me?
A: You can usually take your wife or husband
with you if you have been offered a legal job with visa and working
permit. However, she or he may not be allowed to work and you
may find it difficult to support a dependant on a teacher's income.
If, however, your partner is also an EFL teacher, you could probably
both find work in the same school or town.
Q: What about taking children
abroad?
A: With a legal job you can usually obtain a
resident's visa for your children, though again you may have difficulty
in supporting income. There would also be the question of their
education, which in some cases would prove exorbitantly expensive.
