Brief Introduction to Luoyang University

Is one of the most successful government funded providers of comprehensive higher education in china. It is one of first seventeen multiversities that benefit with the loan from World Bank in China. Among over 200 schools, it is authorized to recruit international students.

It is located in Luoyang which is a world-famous ancient city having been 13 dynasties in its history. It is adjacent with Longmen Grottoes in the south, named World Culture Inheritance, and Luopu Public Park, High-tech Development Zone on the north bank of Luohe River. The University of Melbourne provides an exciting campus based environment, which is committed to providing cultural and intellectual stimulation.

A great university is above all, about knowledge. It has established 9 departments: Chinese and History, Art, Economy, Foreign Language, Environment and Chemistry Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Preparatory education. And it also has 4 Teaching and Scientific Research Administration: societal and scientific Department, Adult Education, Oriental Culture Research Center and International Academic Exchanges Center. It has 10451 students at campus, enrolling throughout Henan, Guangdong, Hubei, Hunan, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangsu, Xinjiang, Ningxia Sichuan and etc., totally 28 provinces and autonomous regions. There are two visiting professors: Zhu Jiusi and Fengmu that the former is an excellent educator and the emeritus president of Center China Engineering Institute, and the latter is a distinguished writer.

International relationship plays a very important role in Academic cooperation and exchanges with foreign colleges and Universities, of which is the United States, England, Mexico, Australia, Japan, and Korea. It is available to invite the experts and professors to assist international employers recruit students who are interested in returning home or gaining employment abroad. Otherwise, we periodically appoint teachers and exchange students to go abroad for further study. Since 1985, there are totally 32 groups of international students to our school, from Japan, Korea, the United States and etc.

The University of Luoyang provides an exciting campus based environment, which is committed to providing cultural and intellectual facilities. It covers 689,700 square meters and 210,000 square meters estate area. Advanced equipments have been set up in the Calculator Center, Network Center, multi-media classrooms and various laboratories. The arc-shaped library is the largest and most abundant one in Henan Province. Specially, the Modern Electronics Reading Room can lodged 6,000 various Chinese and Foreign academic periodical. It also has 31,000 square meters of student dormitories, of which has two bedroom, a living-room and separate bathroom and rented telephone. Courses

We aim to ensure that all the students are international in their perspective, so that they are able to take their place with ease in any international environment.

• Students are taught by academics at the cutting edge of Chinese and its cultural background, ensuring exposure to current developments and trends in international cultural communications.
• Excellence in teaching is supported and developed through a range of programs underpinned by the University's goal of creating and maintaining a campus-based teaching and practical learning environment of the highest quality.
• All students are tested on arrival to establish their level of English and to ensure that they are placed in a suitable intake. Levers range from elementary to advanced. The average class size is within a range of 15 students. There are 4 different levels of classes.
• Teachers may integrate a number of different methods into their programs, but the main one is the communicative method. The language presented to students is functional and relevant to their lifestyle. They are encouraged to use Chinese in an interactive environment and to develop strategies to extend their own listening, speaking and comprehension skills.
• All programs are supplemented by Chinese Painting, calligraphy, martial arts and TCM so as to better understand Chinese tradition and custom.

Information sessions

he University of Luoyang offers an academic year for international students with 5 semester dates per week.

We also provide short courses for a flexible study ranging between 1to 6 weeks, specially in summer and winter vacations.

Qualifications

• Final: It will be held in the end of every semester for one-year-long courses while only one for the others. Score is certificated by school report card and assessment of the University of Luoyang.
• Any students can take part in the exam, who has completed all programs in a certificated degree.
• According to different levels of non-Chinese speakers, it is authorized by National Chinese Language Level Examination Committee. It awards Chinese Language Lever Certificate.

Student Activities

One or two Outdoor Programs and Excursions are performed per week.

Tuition fees:

Full-time students pay approximately $1400 a year
Part-time students pay approximately $ 420 six weeks

Accommodation

International Students enrolled in a study abroad or exchange program have access to semester-based leases at separate apartment with private bathroom. The accommodation costs per person is $5 per day for double-room; $10 for single-room.
The average cost for food in refectory is approximately between $25 to $37 per month.

Books, Stationery, Photocopying etc. $100 per year.
No refund of fees will be made to any student, who by way of cancellation of subject enrolls, reduces their hours after commencement of class in any subject for which the student is enrolled. No refund of fees may be applied for outside the current academic year.

Entrance requirements

Entry Standards

Applications who meet the academic entry level may apply as Mature Age Students. A Mature Age Student is over 18 within the age of 55 and has finished Senior high school education. In addition, you can be granted by Chinese government with the abidance of national laws and school regulations.

Application Process

1. Fill in the Application Form and post it to International Student Office
2. If you are sent an Confirmation letter of Enrolment from our school, you may proceed to apply for a visa.
3. Upon the receipt of above all, you can apply for student visa in Chinese Embassy or Consulates in Australia.
